DVLA/DMG, how long?
Discussion
Wasn't really sure of the best place for this so plumped for here.
I'll apologize now as I know I've done it to death but I do have genuine reasons.
The initial fight/battle/injustice what ever you want to call it went on for over 2 years with me achieving zero.
Then in November of last year it all started up again as the DMG had been shown for all their failings by the PHSO, Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman. This report was fantastic news for people in a similar boat to myself.
I emailed Swansea again with my complaints and surprisingly they got back to me very quickly, the 25th of November to be precise.
I was assured my case was a priority, (damage limitation for them) and the head of investigations was in charge of proceedings on my behalf.
We are nearly 6 months down the line, (this time, 3 years in total) and so far what they have achieved in this 6 months is to contact my, (THEN) neuro consultant asking him to fill out a report on my condition.
He replied saying he cannot do this as he hasn't seen me in over 2 and a half years when he told the DVLA/DMG that I was fit to drive, but they chose to overrule him.
I have now been told by my case investigator, that the DVLA/DMG have to meet to decide what happens next and they will get back to me.
This f
king joke of a story has pretty much robbed me blind, and in the 6 months they have been RE Investigating, not 1 step has been moved in a forward position.

I wonder whether you have any legal avenue against them. One, to force their hand and second to compensate you for the loss of your licence when the Consultant passed you fit to drive 2.5 years ago. Any lawyers or Barristers have a view??
Good luck.(Any joy with the jobs I linked on your other thread?).

Thanks both.
Just replied to the job links, thanks very much for those.
I contacted my MP again off the back of the PHSO report, the MP's secretary said he would be in touch, he hasn't been.
I would love to know the thoughts of legal professionals but even if I had a case? I doubt very much I would even be able to think about the costs involved.
It is indeed very, very frustrating and has caused some pretty big issues. It has changed me from the happy laid back person I was to someone who is struggling at times with depression and anger issues.
Yesterday was my worst day for a long time, some dark thoughts go through your mind when it gets on top.

Another reader hoping you get this sorted!
I would be on the MPs ass, chasing him ( although if he is unlikely to be re elected I doubt he will give a toss
)
Maybe try a no win no fee lawyer, or ask your PI lawyer to at least write a letter threatening legal action. It may just be a shot across the bows of the DVLA but it may also give them a kick up the arse! (Different ends, but you get my drift

)Chilli,
Please take the opportunity to talk to a professional it really helped me as I tend to allow things to get me down and am naturally a bit glass half full. I did and I learned that negative thoughts are just that - thoughts. They aren't real but they can and do lead to a viscous cycle. You need to break that cycle and tell yourself they aren't real and try the positive spin if you can. You also need to give yourself something to look forward to no matter how small.
Northumberland Health Authority do a number of online help booklets there is certainly a depression one amongst quite a few - have a Google.
Probably need a lawyers input but could you out a shot across the DVLAs bows yourself? Could you write a sternly worded letter headed Letter before action stating they have already prevented you plying your trade for 2.5 years having had an all clear from a consultant and that any further delays will result in legal action including recovery of your lost income.
You would have thought by now some legal firm or lawyer on here would have offered to take on your case on a pro bono basis for you (but could recover their costs from DVLA). Cmon guys surely someone is willing to help one of our own?
