DVLA issue - Credit company letter
Discussion
This week received a letter from 'Pastdue Credit Solutions' based in Glasgow informing me they have been appointed by DVLA to recover a penalty notice of £80. The alleged penalty relates to an 'offence' that took place on 1st May 2016 involving a car I have since sold, but still owned at the time of the 'offence'.
This is the first I've heard of this 'offence' having received no previous notification from the DVLA or anyone else. The letter does not specify any details of the alleged offence and it seems somewhat bizarre that it is almost a year since it was committed. SInce it involves DVLA I can only assume it relates to VED and possibly a lapse of the latter? As far as I'm aware the car was continuously taxed but I can't be 100% sure a year after the event.
Am I being scammed or is this genuine? Anyone else received contact from this company?
Cheers,
Ben

Almost certainly a LLP/failure to declare SORN.. The DVLA should have notifed you before involving a DCA.See - https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/purpose_of_...
Your options are to pay it or contact the DVLA in writing to ask for clarification.
In the latter case write to the DCA to tell it to back off as the matter is in dispute.
