Cars trapped behind London Bridge given parking tickets
Discussion
Let's see if any of the usual suspects can find an excuse to defend this.

Traffic wardens swoop on cars trapped behind London Bridge attack cordon just minutes after police lift it
Shameless traffic wardens slapped fines on cars left inside a police cordon set up in the wake of the London Bridge terror attack.
The Sun this morning counted at least six motors carrying the £130 fine while business owners – trying to get back on their feet following the massacre – had to shoo away wardens.
Some were pictured circling like vultures around cars parked just yards from the entrance to Borough Market – where eight were killed on Saturday – at 2.55pm today.

TfL has since said it will write off the fines.
A spokesperson said: “We unreservedly apologise for our insensitive mistake.
"These fines should never have been issued and will all be immediately cancelled.”
...which is something, I suppose. I wonder if they were preempting the possibility of one of the cars belonging to a hospitalised or deceased victim?A spokesperson said: “We unreservedly apologise for our insensitive mistake.

I'm in two minds about this.
The wardens are aggressive in the area (I have an office building on Union Street). Both Borough High St & the adjoining roads regularly get snarled up due to people parking where they shouldn't. I can see the argument that it is easier to issue, and then cancel, a handful of tickets rather than letting the area come to a standstill due to selfish parkers.

I'm struggling to understand how anyone could be in two minds about this. Clearly wardens are needed to prevent people parking where/when they shouldn't but the affected drivers didn't choose to leave their cars in this case; there was no other option.Wardens should be punished for this kind of behaviour e.g. wages docked for every ticket issued incorrectly.

Indeed there was no other option for the parkers. They should not be fined and I agree that wardens who incorrectly ticket should be penalised.Wardens should be punished for this kind of behaviour e.g. wages docked for every ticket issued incorrectly.
Suspending enforcement on those streets will cause traffic in area to grind to a halt so the pragmatic solution would not be to stop it.
I saw these vehicles today.
Some points to bear in mind.
The Sun HQ is next door to where the cars are parked so their reporters will have walked passed them on there way to pick up lunch.
Some of the photos are miss leading as Borough High Street has loading bays that are operative between 10am and 1pm on the southbound side and 1pm and 4pm on the north bound side.
Typically of the Sun they are miss leading people, the red van is a Drain Doctors van that is parked outside the Bunch of Grapes pub in St Thomas St. They have been there quite a lot recently unblocking the drains and are parked on the double red lines outside the pub. They are not in a bay so the warden would issue a PCN.
The CEO pictured is actually a nice guy, he has given me a couple of tickets, one where I was banged to rights and the second I was technically wrong but due to a builder occupying the only loading bay on the whole of St Thomas Street all day. He helpfully noted the builders van was there all day on his report and his notes helped me get off the ticket when I appealed. I often say hello to him, he is just doing the job TFL have told him to do, the issue is his bosses telling him to issue the tickets, not him ticketing those vehicles off his own bat.
P.S Thanks OP, the photo of the white Peugeot has my white van parked up behind it
