V5C says "not licensed"
Discussion
Just completed a restoration on a car last on the road in the 70s and had it MOT'd.
I have insurance, but when I went to get it taxed (and change the taxation class to Historic) at the Post Office, their computer says no.
It seems because the taxation class on the V5C says "not licensed", I have to send off the V5C to Swansea for them to 'investigate'.
This might take 6 weeks - meanwhile I'll have to wait before I use the car on the road.
Anyone heard of this before ?

I think it just means that the vehicle has not been taxed since before the records were computerised.
I wonder if you could have taxed or SORNed it as normal, then changed to historic, without involving the DVLA. Perhaps not, but I guess I'll find out of I ever complete the Norton project that's been in my garage since 1973.
