Good morning,

I'm fairly certain this is within the regulations from the information I can find but just thought I'd ask here to double check.

B category licence holder, test passed 03/15

I'm looking to tow a trailer with a MAM of 1000kg with an Alfa Giulietta (1.4 170 TCT)

As far as I can work out the combined MAM will not exceed 3500kg meaning this is legal?

ETA: This is the description given when I view my driving licence information on the government website.

"You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats and a driver (with a trailer up to 750kg). You can also tow heavier trailers if the total weight of vehicle and trailer isn’t more than 3,500kg MAM. Physically disabled drivers with provisional category B entitlement will also have provisional entitlement to ride category A1 or A motor tricycles. Able-bodied drivers can no longer ride motor tricycles with a provisional category B licence"

Look at the reverse of your photo card driving licence

Is there an icon showing a trailer behind a car?

The answer is in your quote: "You can also tow heavier trailers if the total weight of vehicle and trailer isn’t more than 3,500kg MAM."

If it did he wouldn't be asking the question because he would have sat his B+E test.

OP, you'll be fine with that, watch out for police who don't know the law correctly though, I was towing a flatbed ~900kgs and the officer attempted to throw the book at me. 'No B+E license means you can't tow' he said, the other officer tapped him on the shoulder and went 'erm mate...'

Thanks chaps.

I was fairly certain I would be fine but even the company hiring the trailer believed I wasn't able to tow it without a B+E which made me doubt what I'd researched.

What is the GVW and towing capacity of the vehicle ?

ADD - found it = https://www.carleasingmadesimple.com/data/alfa-rom...
GVW under 2000
Tow limit 1300

GVW 2000 + MAM 1000 = 3000 total so well under the 3500 limit

Fully load 1000 trailer is well below 1300 limit

NO WORRIES ALL LEGAL on a B licence
