Towing uninsured van
Discussion
In short it is a total pit fall & not a risk I would be willing to take. A proper mate will understand and appreciate the potential nightmare if he/you/rope was to come unstuck and an accident occurred. Seeing as YOU would probably be the closest thing to a ''responsible party'' (leading, driving, insured etc...) I would imagine you'd be first in line for any bummage.
AVOID like the plague. I had my car taken 50 miles on the pack of a tuck for not a huge amount of money. Look at the website SHIPLY for people who can probably help...

I thought all UK motor policies by law had to give tp cover to anything being towed. If so, a vehicle being towed would have tp cover provided by the towing vehicles insurance.
Except a van on a rope isn't a trailer. It's a vehicle being emergency recovered - for which it needs to be fully legal in its own right. If you're arguing it's a trailer, then you're into a world of C&U woes - not least the lack of automatically operated brakes, and the rather flexible towing attachment...
