I know of a drug dealer ( class A and B) who is living with a vulnerable older relative of theirs. Their relative is terrified of the dealer and cant/wont do anything to stop them this person has mental health issues and is working themselves to the bone to support the dealers habit (they refuse to pay for it themselves and their relative is too afraid to say no). What happens if someone were to call the police and report the dealer? How would it impact on the vulnerable persons criminal record, council house and mobility car?
Is there anything that can be done to reduce the impact on the innocent person?

if you're close to them speak to them and offer them a bed for a period of time so they're out of the way then report the offender?

Report it to the police, and suggest they get social services to start VOSA action

OP - good for you for getting involved. Please don't let it slide this person really needs your intervention. Imagine living in permanent terror/fear it must be horrific and even more so if there are mental health issues.

Hopefully the scum will be removed and a no contact order issued upon which he can be arrested if he breaches it. Maybe POVA can organise a temporary or permanent relocation to hell things along?

You need to report this to the Police, they can't do anything if they're unaware. If in doubt ask yourself, "if something happens to this vulnerable person would I feel like I've done the best I could to prevent this?"

Bear in mind this person may be so terrified that they won't be willing to support any prosecution so in the mean time if you can get photos of deals, customers, cars etc that attend the property (without putting yourself at risk obviously), this could be useful stuff that might help a prosecution. Even if a prosecution doesn't happen it could help with something like social services to put protective orders in place to at least help this person.

Horrible situation to be in, good luck!

Can't be much of a dealer if he needs his gran to fund his habit..
I try and keep out of things as in my experiance you may well end up as the bad guy.
But,I agree sometimes you've got to take that chance.

So quite a bit has happened since all of this started. The most recent being the junkie has in the past 3 days been caught driving out of his bin on cocaine (possibly other drugs too) with a bald tyre and on the phone and once stopped drove away with the police officers arm in the window causing the police officer to fall quite harshly. He was later caught only to be bailed the next day by some deluded sheriff and then get outside and take some cocaine that the police had missed in his pocket outside the courthouse. The vulnerable person is distraught as their car has been taken by the police for investigation and they have lost a job that they love due to not being able to get there. Their gp is aware of what's going on as are social work but there's not much they can do when she is just saying that she is not being abused and that everything they are being told is untrue. I recently lost my temper and threw a few of the drug users friends out of the vulnerable persons house causing an argument between me and the drug user.
Also the drug user was seen in a closed court and on petition? Can anyone tell me what that may mean for future sentencing?

There would be no impact. Call 101. NOW

Another entry for the most moronic post of the week written by a moron who is incapable of reading or understanding the simplist of posts.

How can you say it will have no impact when the vulnerable person has already had thier car taken away and lost thier job?
As the police, social services and doctor are all aware of the situation I would suggest it's a bit late to worry about 101!

Although I suppose to fair to Pothole, there would be no impact if 101 was called NOW (a year after the original post) as the unfortunate impact has already happened.

Calm down, dear. I reacted to the OP, not noticing the datestamp and not having read any more of the thread. You omitted to mention the fact that had my advice been more timely it would also have been correct.

Also, if you're going to bandy around words like moron, at least learn to spell.

SimplEst.

Calling 101 may well have PREVENTED the above happening.

If I'm reading the post correctly, it was their car that Mr Druggie was driving. The car was taken as part of the investigation, and it's this lack of transport which cost them their job.

Had Mr Druggie been dealt with earlier, then the only issue they'd have had would be driving with a bald tyre (it's still going to be bald regardless of who is driving).

Given the scenario described, I can't see them being in a position to refuse the use of their car.

Exactly, my whole point.
I think it is moronic to comment on a thread that you can't be bothered to read!

PS Sorry about the spelling mistakes, I hold my hand up to them.

101 was called at the time of the original post as were social work and the gp. I forgot to mention in my update that the vulnerable person house had been raided at 0710 druggie was already on bail at that point and has remained on bail since. Short of actually attacking druggie myself I have been doing everything I can to get him out and get stuff sorted however nothing seems to get done.

He is right though isn't he?
So many threads get a post suggesting this that or the other whilst admitting that they haven't read the whole thread, well guess what, foot in mouth always happens. If you can't be bothered to read it all do us a favour & don't bother commenting either.
