You'll be pleased to know that the police here have decided to publish in advance where and when they will be doing speed traps. Yes, if I go to the golf club on Friday this week I must be careful between 4.30pm and 6pm. Likewise near the supermarket on Thursday between 2,30 and 4pm. Astounding but true, it is in an effort to create better relations with the public.

They post on a local FB page where and when they are going to be parked, just so all the local residents who complain about speeders know the police are actively doing something, I was informed a few weeks ago that random speed checks along the road I live (plaqued by speeding) would only be effective while the police were present, where this logic came from baffles me as I would always be wary if a road I used had random speed checks on it.

A list of mobile locations is published regularly by our local paper, here's where they get the information from. The actual sites are well known and never seem to change:

The PSNI have a list of camera locations, number of cameras, etc - but don't tell you when they are going to be active/there in the first place (if mobile)!

even better would be something like Waze to import it and give a routing option of avoiding cameras biggrin

if popping up with a camera was an instant catalyst to having all cars take a different route - it would soon answer the issue of whether the cameras are there for safety or cash...

Sussex Police just have signs saying "Unmarked Police vehicles" - which everyone ignores.

Many areas do this, North Wales publish a map of likely sites, with data.

Kent used to publish it in the local newspapers.
Don't know if they still do as I haven't purchased a paper in years .
I know all the local hiding places for the cameras and just don't speed near them as my snooper sat nav nags me too much .
