Just been held up at a junction in Leamington by a blue-light Met police convoy comprising six or seven marked motorbikes, two unmarked, smart-looking grey Defender crewcab pick-ups and a marked Range Rover bringing up the rear - all in a hurry.

Was intrigued to know if anyone had any ideas on the sort of thing these vehicles might be used for, if not the actual incident. Might have been training after all. Thanks

Countess of Wessex is in Worcester today, but that seems a bit of a heavy police presence for a relatively minor Royal.

Think it was the Met Special Escort Group. Bikes were the same as on this video:

Still no idea who was in the Defenders though...

There's always weird as heck police convoys around Warwick and Leam. Think I made a thread last year about one. Never seen anything like it. The general consensus was that it'd be minor royals. What a waste of time, money and effort.

I saw Princess Anne in London the other day, a couple (well maybe 4) of motorcycle outriders, a Bentley that she was in and a Range Rover at the rear. I'd be surprised if royals were being transported in a Defender crew cab.

Very similar sounding convoy parked alongside Westminster Cathedral when I walked past on my way to the station this week - think there were 2 new Range Rovers, x4 armed bike outriders, and a Jag as well (don't think it was armoured version, so probably another attendee at whatever they were there for)
