Private fleet insurance/brokers?
Discussion
Hopefully someone will know much more about this than I, so here goes:
We (my family) currently have 6 cars between us, with at least one more coming soon. There are a couple of more expensive cars in there, a couple of other higher insurance group cars and a couple of cheap runabouts.
We currently have some on a multicar policy and a couple on separate policies as our multicar provider wouldn’t cover them for a sensible price. We generally are only insured on our own cars, and the price is just over a couple of grand all in.
Would we be better off with a private fleet policy if there is such a thing, or a specialist broker? Really we would all like to be able to drive everything, but don’t need to enough to warrant paying almost double for the privilege via our current setup.
The sticking points are that I’m 24 and have an F type S and my father has a relatively new RR autobiography V8 (the kind that tend to go missing - already difficult to insure). I recently chopped my Aston in for the F type, but envisage having another one again soon. I am also about to lease an Octavia VRS daily or similar. So basically I need a broker/fleet policy that will allow me the flexibility to drive performance cars at my age, and also to drive everything else we own. We will need business cover on at least two of them. I have temporarily moved back home so they’re all at the same address, however I’ll be moving out again soon so also need that flexibility (our current multicar provider cover them at different addresses so I know this is possible).
Some quick googling shows plenty of brokers out there - can someone point me in the direction of the best ones, or ones that might be suitable? I know I tried to insure my Aston through Locktons and was too young.
