find leaseholder
Discussion
hi we have bought a property with a view to renting it out.
at present my daughter and her fiance are living there, and the neighbour upstairs is a nightmare.
he had a blazing row with his partner last week, they think he threw her down the stairs, and they have been kept awake on and off by stuff being moved around at 3am etc.
Now there has been damage to their car, not that we know who did it.
we know he rents, but we don't know who from, and I can't even find the property on the land registry site.
does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to get in touch with the leaseholder for the flat about ours?
Thanks
Danny

OP, assuming this is flat there may be a quicker way than via the freeholder who may be difficult to contact.
There will likely be a managing agent for the block. They should know who the leaseholder is and how to contact them.
How come you can't find the flat concerned listed at the Land Registry?
Surely if you have just purchased yours that title will be registered so why isn't the other one?

thanks for the replies, yes we will contact the freeholders, but that has to go via snailmail.
it is a flat, but it's a Victorian house converted into 2 flats, there is no management agents, the maintenance is done via the freeholders etc.
It's a genuinely nice flat, with off street parking in an area that parking is at a premium.
When we were decorating etc it was all quiet, it seems to kick off in the early hours.
oh and yes i am slightly concerned that we don't come up on the land registry and we are going to contact our solicitor about that.

hi, i have now found out that there are 3 (three) postcodes for the road we bought in and I was using the wrong 2.
I can now find us on the land registry etc, so I will be getting the info from there hopefully.
thanks for the advice, I have also contacted the council as to what to do.
sorry this is new to us, and we are also in the process of emigrating to New Zealand, so the flat is a bolt hole if it goes wrong out there, or an investment long term if it doesn't.
Thanks

have you spoken/written to the people above?
Apart from the row Is the moving stuff at 3am every day? ie months or just once or twice last week etc? whats the frequency? Do they leave to work at that time?
if speeking contacting them direct doesn't help then you can
Contact the council and the police each time there is a noise disturbance. Will be a long drawn out process with little success.
That's the issue with flats - neighbours may be noisy - ie going to work at 3am etc its very hard to prove.
Yes can search the LR - may or may not give the new address of the owner. He may ask for evidence he may not.

We will be contacting the leaseholder if it carries on, the daughter has only been in 10 days and can be a bit hypercritical.
we will get the details from the LR for the leaseholder and the freeholders just in case.
Cheers for the advice.
