Average speed cameras - have you been caught?
Discussion
I was done on M1 in April. 54 in 40 through roadworks late at night. Few other cars and no works going on. I could have sworn it was all 50, but there must have been at least a small 40 section. Hey ho. It's only going to get worse. Those A217 cameras are ridiculous. Thread running about them in 'roads'.
I think the ones I use are either fake or have a very high tolerance. Obviously I'll get caught 3 times in 1 day now I've said this but so far I'm able to travel a fair bit faster than I expect without getting into trouble. I'd say I don't travel any slower on that same road than I did before the cameras.

It is going to get worse. What we need is a public backlash against them but we, as a nation are a bunch of pussys. Burnzyb said:
I wonder if the people you see who speed through average speed sections but just slow down for the cameras get caught, and if they do, I wonder what they think afterwards?
I'd a bellend do this today on my drive up from Glasgow, I was on cruise control and in no hurry, just over the NSL. Twice he overtook me then saw the yellow gantry and slowed down, braking not just coasting. The second time he was definately on his phone not handsfree either. Now if you own/drive a black 4 series BMW, personal plates and think it's cool to drive around using your mobile on speaker function, guessing as that's how it was being held, then give yourself a shake you fud. You are an utter cocksocket of a driver and I hope your next s
t is actually a hedgehog. Leptons said:

Yes. 46 in 40, forget which motorway but it was a ridiculous speed to be at and I guess I had a momentary lapse in concentration.
Did a SAC.
Pissy PH Pedant time- surely one of the 'benefits' of an average speed camera, as opposed to a gatso/truvelo etc, is that a momentary lapse of concentration won't be punished. To fall fowl ofan ASC you need a bloody big lapse of concentration!Did a SAC.

They're everywhere now, not just on motorways. Drove past a load on the A217 which is a windy dual carriageway.

Have you been caught? What's your excuse?
By average speed cameras? Never: they are not exactly hard to spot!

Were you only worried about above average and excellent speed cameras?
No.Never been caught in them, no idea how they work either, I did wonder.
My perception on the road nowadays is that road speeds have got slower most drive at the limit. in the 1990s everyone used to do 10mph over the speed limit everywhere. 40 in a 30 was normal, 90 on the motorway was the norm. But the quality of driving is appalling, people using their phones at traffic lights for facebook etc is prolific, getting cut up, tailgated, barged out of the way are all pretty much every day occurrences. It seems that at least once I week some muppet blocks me from getting off a slip road onto a motorway.

One could perhaps point out here that it is your duty to adjust your speed such so as to merge with the vehicles on the main carriageway and not cause them to alter their speed or course in order to accommodate you.Why do I have the feeling that your motorway joining endeavours involve either
1. flying down the slip road at 90 and expecting everyone to clear a path for you to go straight to lane 3
2. dawdling down the slip road at somewhere 35 and 40 and waiting until there's only 50ft of the slip road remaining before deciding to have a look in your mirrors and over your shoulder.
3. driving down the slip road at exactly 56 alongside another truck and then get all shouty when he doesn't move into lane 2.
