People that think they can take up two spaces because they drive a Range Rover etc usually gets on my nerves in busy car parks, especially when you have somewhere to be and end up driving around endlessly to find a space.

A Ferrari driver from Antrim is raging that his appeal against a parking fines was refused after he left his vehicle between two parking bays - having bought tickets for both.Kevin McWhinney parked the £143,000 red Italian supercar on Church Road in Antrim at 4.18pm on September 27, 2017.

He bought two tickets at the same time, one to cover each space. He did it because he says the car is very valuable - and also quite wide for a standard space - and he has had previous experience of his vehicles being damaged when parked in single spaces.

Mr McWhinney was fined £90 for 'Not parking wholly within the markings of the bay/space'.

When he appealed the fine to the Department for Infrastructure his request was refused.

I can see it from a the perspective of not wanting to get his Ferrari dented. However I can also see it from the side that it is one space for one car and he's taken it upon himself to invent a new rule to accommodate his flash motor.

When parking in the supermarket etc I go to the furthest point & take up two spaces every time, as for the guy above a £90 fine would be cheaper than dent removal!

So what we need is a capitalist solution to it all, regular (1970's council sized spaces) at x amount and SUV or Supercar wide spaces for y amount.

Pay for the space you want around your car lol

Reminds me of finding this parked next to our hire Santa Fe in Florida!

I'm reluctantly siding with the owner on this one, a bit of common sense should have been applied

To be honest he did nothing wrong (Imo).

He paid for 2 tickets.

If he paid for two tickets I don’t see the problem.

I parked across two spaces outside Dixons a few weeks ago, at 7pm in a half-empty carpark, to keep the plebs away from the car. A woman from the lower orders rushes over from about 50 metres away and starts mouthing off and threatening to ring plod. The fury was bizarre.

More petty nonsense.

He paid for the spaces he used.

He could just as easily have some daft US pickup (his choice after all) that won't fit in the stupidly small Ryanair-style parking slots so common these days. So then what should he do?

Any excuse to fine appears to be the norm now,

why did the other thread get deleted? The all important discussion on why he paid for 60 minutes on one ticket and 70 minutes on the other has been lost for ever.

Well I don’t know but perhaps they knew that their red car would not be damaged by your black car?
