This summer I prepaid two crossings and entered one digit of my registration number incorrectly. Accidentally.

I got the 2 additional charge letters and challenged them and today received a letter to say that this time my challenge was accepted and the extra charges were cancelled.

However the letter went on to say that if it happened again, I would have to pay the additional charges.

I just wondered whether this was enforceable as I imagine that most people don’t deliberately enter their reg. number incorrectly and in my case I had paid for the two crossings.

Any feedback from those more knowledgeable ?

After a very shaky start, DART/Sanef are one of the easier traffic authority type of bodies I have to deal with. They are not adverse to seeing a bit of common sense now and again, and I've had a few cancellations for genuine errors like this.

TFL on the other hand are a bunch of bureaucratic jobsworths.

Had an issue where my account had run out of money and their statement email went to my spam and I received a couple of penalty notices. I wrote them, explained the reason and they waived them.

Also had an issue where someone had bought my car drove across the bridge and hadn't re registered it or changed the reg. No problem, explained and they cancelled it.

As per the previous poster - they seem reasonable, which is astounding in 2017.

I've also found them to be very accommodating when errors are made but wouldn't expect their generousity to be limitless; two caution letters is two more than many excess charge collectors would send.
