Runcorn, Cheshire.

A PCSO was lured into a secluded wooded area following a report of a "fight". (The "fight" appears to be a load of bks - they wanted to attack the PCSO).

The PCSO was attacked from behind and his assailant attempted to stab him in the face.

The officer suffered defensive wounds to his hands and arms.

The way things are. Sadly

I hope he makes a speedy recovery and the offenders are dealt with "robustly".

Or evictions ? http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greate...
Slightly OT but a certain 'Highways' Company were renowned for sending 'unsuitable' units to live Lane jobs as they were all that was available/nearest and just left to try and sort it.
The amount of 'tall' stories used to explain how a job was dealt with within 'policy/procedures' was ridiculous, good job many motorways are/were not covered in cctv.

He wasn't.

He was approached by a man on the street who said there was a fight going on in the woods.

The same man (or possibly one of his accomplices) then tried to stab the PCSO in the head.

He wasnt sent, he was out and about and was lured into an area before being jumped.

Pay peanuts- get monkeys springs to mind, in that the PCSO was NOT properly trained or advised on what could happen. Perhaps the peanuts idea might also be aligned at the Inspector in charge of the control room at the time.

Ah, I see.

It was the PCSO's own fault that he was targeted and someone tried to stab him in the head.

What a moronic post.

So the PCSO puts himself at risk to go help someone in trouble, and gets hurt in the process. And it's his fault.

Presumably you will be the first to complain if said PCSO sat outside wood when you are being attached.

Rock and hard place come to mind. Hope he recovers soon.

RED- ONCE UPON A TIME ( a fairy tale now on policing) , we'd have had PROPER POLICE OFFICERS who knew how to respond to this sort of incidence. And be prepared for problems. These days, sadly we have monkeys attempting to do the work of Gorillas.

And what do you think a Police Officer would have done differently to the PCSO ?

Proper police offers are taught psychic powers to avoid ambush attacks from behind? Impressive!

Just in case "Who me ?" thinks Police Officers are bullet proof and that their training will protect them from someone who is intent on causing them serious harm, here's another incident from last night - not too far from where the PCSO was injured.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-42...

These type of incidents happen frequently - they just aren't that widely reported.

Red 4- from my experience of police officers in this neck of the world ( they only attend incidents in force), no sane PC would get into a situation like this without back up.

Not sure if the control room would have allowed the PCSO into that situation on their own - assuming they'd been informed. I Certainly wouldn't have allowed anyone to get behind me in that situation either and would have treated the whole situation with caution and not just charged in.

How do you know he charged in?

You have no idea what happened but the report suggests he was jumped. If you're telling me you never had your back exposed during your career I'd suggest you're talking bks.
