Turn off your fog lights!
Discussion
I'm really struggling these days with dazzling front lights, not just 'fog' lights. Normal dipped beam on modern cars are way too bright and way to high, may as well run with full beam there's little difference. Just don't get why manufacturers are allowed to produce cars with headlamps so bright and so badly focused.
Front fog lights can’t dazzle you, they shine into the ground. They’re absolutely useless if you’re driving though, as they don’t illuminate the road in front other than a few feet.
People are dicks and follow trends willingly. Look how many in here now use “where”instead of “were”, which is completely unforgivable.

A large number of cars seem to have drls where the fog lights are, particularly lower end models and cars that didn’t have drls designed as part of the headlights. Some also have split ‘fog light’ where part is a driving light and the other the fog light.
I imagine they’ll reduce now lost newer models have them in the headlight as a great big bling led light or near to the headlight.

Never mind front fog lights, I was behind 2 vehicles in one night the other night with rear fog lights on.
Not been any fog for a couple months, and no amount of snow or rain to make someone want to put them on.
Suppose it's better than driving with no lights on...
That one's quite easily resolved. A few courtesy flashes, in case of in error, and if not switch to full beam. There you go, how do you like your retinas being burnt out, not nice is it! Not been any fog for a couple months, and no amount of snow or rain to make someone want to put them on.

That assumes that the person in front is using their mirror and also that they don’t have the auto dim function on their mirror. I agree that standard dip beams have increased significantly in brightness over the last couple of years but the beam control doesn't seem very good. On a bumpy road it is like they are flashing their main beam all the time.
Plus you get the people who use their main beam all the time despite having really bright and clear dip beam, constantly trying and no doubt succeeding in blinding on-coming drivers.
Do modern cars actually need a main beam anymore?

Funnily enough in my mk2 cavalier a couple of years ago, I could drive all night with it on high beam without anybody noticing, never got flashed once, the same car on low beam then switch the front fogs on and morons in new Mercedes and bmw’s With atomic flash spec headlights would go into instant meltdown
Funny old world isn’t it

I don't give a stuff about front fogs as they rarely dazzle unless they are very badly aligned/damaged.Not been any fog for a couple months, and no amount of snow or rain to make someone want to put them on.

Rear fogs on the other hand drive me mental. The amount of idiots with no thought of those around them on the roads with them on in the slightest bit of mist, or leave them on once they are through the 100m patch of fog is ridiculous.
If you can see the car in front's tail lights then there is no need for you to have yours on!

As others have said, I find the rear fogs much more of an issue. Personally, there are times at night that I will turn my fronts on. They only illuminate the road surface for a few yards ahead of me - but it gives me a better view of the road surface. They don't hurt anybody.
People who leave their rear fogs on though... And people who don't dip their full beam for the vehicle in front. I once put my car into reverse sat at some lights to give them the message, as no combination of rear fog lights and brake lights had the desired effect. Surprisingly, they worked it out after they had a white light in their face!

Why do you need to see the road surface just in front of you? Surely you’re looking hundreds of yards up the road? People who leave their rear fogs on though...
