A Festive Reminder for Visitors to Scotland
Discussion
Please remember that the drink drive limit in Scotland is 50 milligrams of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of blood in your body. 22 micrograms of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of breath.
As a reminder: England & Wales is 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath
Police Scotland has declared a war on drink drivers over the festive period, so please, be warned.

Why has Dumfries and Galloway been singled out for mention?
Possibly because it's on the border with England so there are lots of cross border drivers? Why has Dumfries and Galloway been singled out for mention?
What's legal in Carlisle would be illegal 15 minutes later when you drive through Gretna. Or English visitors to D&G not aware of the lower Scottish limit.

The same would apply to the other cross border roads above, so it just semed a bit odd to me that only D&G got the nod.Im Scottish and live in Scotland though am certainly not a supporter of the SNP and there divisive politics. As has been said what is legal in Carlisle is illegal 15 minutes away in Gretna, this in my opinion was Sturgeons whole plan, meaning that England and Wales will eventually have to follow suit and lower there limits. If she cant get independance then its a case off I,ll make them fit in with me rather than fit in with them.
In the same vein when David Camerons government broached the idea that motorway speed limits were a bit archaic compared with the perfomance of modern vehicles and should perhaps be raised to 80mph, Alex Salmond immediately countered that it wouldnt be happening in Scotland he wanted the limit lowered to 60mph.

Yes but Northern Ireland is part of the UK whilst the republic isnt, despite the wishes of the SNP scotland is still part of the UK and its absolutely ridiculous that when you pass a certain line in the road that motoring laws should change, and its just bloody mindedness by the present incumbent of the Scottish Assembly. ( I refuse to call them a parliament, they only speak for a minority in Scotland )

Scot here.Scotland has always had a separate legal system to the rest of the UK and will continue to do so. It's got hee-haw to do with the Scottish Parliament.
