My neighbour works as a taxi driver - I just checked his car on the mot tracker to find it’s 2 years since he had an mot, although the car shows as taxed I don’t understand how this can be since to get tax you need a current mot?

Thanks for the replies - would a current mot (even for private hire) still show on the online site?

Your thread title is "Should I Report This ?"

It's a neighbour dispute. Obviously.

Some councils do independent annual testing but the car still requires a valid MOT.

Some councils test twice a year, some accept a valid MOT. There is no countrywide standard, it depends whereabouts you are.

Did you check MID while you were at it?

Er what’s MID?
I’m not after him and perhaps I should have used a different title like “how come no mot?” So if he has a council
Mot should it still show up on the mot checker?

OP, if I PM you lots of vehicle registration numbers, perhaps you could surreptitiously search them on the MOT database for your own satisfaction. Some of them may not even have MOTs. You could even imagine that you've seen them parked in dangerous spots around your locale.
