I declared bankruptcy in 2009, released 12 months later. I've just been asked to be treasurer for a club that I've been a long standing committee member of. Am I allowed to do this? Obviously I will declare this to the committee before accepting the post (If I'm even allowed to accept it).

Depends on your restriction orders. Even if you are released they may have an effect. Have a look in your paperwork.

See extra restrictions.

Dig your paperwork out and declare it, honesty is the best policy!

If they say no thank you did your best!

I would imagine most decent people would say it was a long time ago and we appreciate your candour.

Thank you for your replies, I can't find anything in the paperwork that would stop me from doing it. I have declared it to the general secretary and will do so to the rest of the committee at the next meeting before they vote on it. I don't think it will be an issue but better to be up front about it.
