Named Driver Accident

If the claim was on her policy with you as a named driver, her insurers already know about the her claim & your collision as a named driver.
You still need to inform your insurers at renewal that your circumstances have changed.
You have had a non fault (fully recovered) collision.
It wouldn't necessarily have been disclosed to her insurer if they used either the TP insurer or an accident management company to manage the claim. You still need to inform your insurers at renewal that your circumstances have changed.

There's some good insurance experts on here who will doubtless provide the definitive answer.
At renewal, won't your wife be asked by her insurers if she or the named driver have had any claims or accidents in the last x years?
And at renewal on your own policy for your own car won't you be asked the same?
So you will need to tell both insurers?

If her insurers aren't aware then they would need to be informed of the collision involving him as a named driver on the policy.
The question is usually 'Any accidents, claims or losses?'

When I add myself as a named driver I get the same question (which I would say yes to) but if I don't add myself as a named driver as I planned, there doesn't appear to be an option to tick that there was an claim handled by my wife's insurer.
So you appear to have omitted a fairly crucial bit of info in your original post - you weren't driving your wife's car on her insurance?Sheepshanks said:

You can only answer the questions as presented. You don't have to do anything else.
Sure - and if he's not on the policy then the question simply won't arise. The OP's question was baffling at first, but is obvious now it's been made apparent he isn't on the policy.
If it was DOC on his insurance it doesn't normally cover own damage to the car he is driving.
If so, presumably any such claim would have to be made directly against the TP insurer
Furthermore I have always understood that DOC cover doesn't extend to other vehicles in the same household.
Awaits a more knowledgable insider to tell me I'm spouting b
s.Or else I have completely misunderstood the OP's account...

I don't think he has answered your question above though. If he was not a named driver on her policy what cover was in place?

I'm well aware of that, but I was responding to Sheepshanks' post rather than yours. On a different issue (i.e. exactly what cover was in place, nothing to do with questions on renewal or a first proposal).

I read it as he a named Driver on his wife's policy and it was they that handled the claim. On a different issue (i.e. exactly what cover was in place, nothing to do with questions on renewal or a first proposal).
But I am easily confused.
I read as the situation is the other way round.

OP is intending to stop being a named driver and therefore the questions about the current renewal do not cover what happened in the previously insured position.Hi all,
Sorry for the confusion in my initial posts, I tend to type like a mad fool and reply without proof reading first.
Accident happened in June 2017, I was driving and my wife was a passenger. Wife was main policy holder, while I was a named driver on her insurance.
At renewal, I was looking to remove myself as a named driver as I hardly ever drive it (and when I do, I crash it seems).
On renewal, after adding myself as a named driver it asks me to answer the question "Have YOU had any accidents in the last X years, regardless if a claim a made or who was at fault" - however if I had removed myself as a named driver like I had planned to, they wouldn't know that there had been a claim since I was no longer on the policy.
My wife wouldn't answer yes to that question as she was not driving, and the fact that I'm no longer a named driver shouldn't change that fact I assume?
Just wanted to clarify that we wouldn't be in trouble for not declaring it on my wife's policy as the above replies are clear that I still need to declare it to mine when i renew *double sigh*
