I had a funny incident yday as when I was trying to pay and get a ticket in Guildford (ticket machine 17613) I inserted a 1 pound coin and a 50p coin as on Sundays its £ 1.50 for the whole day however the machine said insufficient money and would not print a ticket

I clicked on the cancel button and only the 50p coin was returned not the £1 as i was in a hurry I had to use and another £1 pound and the 50p and this time it worked

I know it just a £1 but then on principle how do I complain and get it rectified? I tried the council website but it does not say anything and ringo app website is helpless as its not a phone transaction

any ideas on this after all if we pay £1 less to any council we get penalties dont we smile

I know it’s sucks, but it’s not really worth the effort is it? Forget about it and move on.

Fill the machine with Butane gas, chuck a match at it while running for cover, sort through the debris until you find your coin, then go about your day.
(you may get arrested and spend time in jail, but you will have your £££ back)

Cool hand Luke it and smile and wave when the cops turn up. Practice eating eggs first though

Fill it with expanding foam. It'll cost them much more than £1 to repair it so that'll learn 'em!

It may be a "hollow victory", but the foam should get into most of the voids smile

Trust me you will spend more time and effort on it that you would ever believe and still be unlikely to get a straight answer, let alone your money back.

I had similar with a council parking machine taking money but then pretending it hadn't when i was a student. Again it was £1 but being a student i had plenty of time on my hands to chase and so on. I gave up in the end as it was just too much like hard work for the sake of £1.

Hit it until it returns money?

Once happened to me, late at night, walked up to the help desk, somebody will be down shortly, 15 minutes later I decided to bang on the eject button area, got half my money back, done it again, got double my money back, ended up paying for my Chinese that night, went to the other pay machine which worked fine

Fantastic, NOT!

They are on a right little earner and someone should stand up. Whether it will do anything, who knows but your comment isn't helpful.

Out of principle I got a refund from Kensington and Chelsea for the £ 2.40 their machine took off me, they sent me a cheque for £2.40, must have cost them a fortune in admin costs. They had a form to fill in online.

If the council offices has a lawn, hammering frozen sausages into it might scare them into giving your quid back...

Oxy acetylene or a plasma cutter and genny.

Park there again but overstay your prepaid amount by 2 minutes. Do this many times until you get your extra quid's worth.

Put bins in one of the parking spaces and then you tube the people who come along and insist on parking there, despite loads of other empty spaces??

This will likely happen to you again, in some random coin slot machine.

Its certainly not worth stressing over.
