Apologies for the link to daily fail.....

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5391043/Homeowner...

They come for money but could easily have been the car. They did him and his Rottweiler.

I know instinct kicks in and it’s easily done but he’s a lucky man.

Jesus.

Fair play to him, he must be a double hard bd. If it were me, I'd give them the car keys and tell them to leg it. Cars, house etc are insured, and although his instinct was "protect my son" (which is bloody admirable), you have to presume he was a different swing of that machete from "My son has no dad".

Hope they find the bds and string em up - I can only imagine what nightmares the little lad is having now.

The dog is only a pup - it didn’t give him any warning at all because it is too young. An older dog would be going garrity before the guys are within 50 yards of the house especially if you have gravel. You only need the dog to wake you up, not defend you. As long as I have 30 seconds warning, I don’t care how many show up, they’re leaving empty handed. Clearly, if you are woken up by 5 thugs standing next to your bed, you’re stuffed.

Real life doesn’t work like that. Taking on more than one person won’t end well and the pictures of that guy show why. They left, but only because they thought they’d killed him.

Attacks to the person in break ins are very rare indeed and I’d hazard a guess that there’s more to this story. Thieves know that a break in without confrontation if caught, even if they steal a car, is a max sentence of two years, even with 5000 other offences taken into consideration. As soon as it involves the homeowner, then the sentence starts at 10 years and rises very quickly. One sentence is time easily and quickly served, one isn’t.

Why are they leaving empty handed ?

Your only 1 man , it's a numbers game and who's cares the least about getting locked up.

Yup - that crossed my mind, too.

It's possible they would have legged it, but he wouldn't let them, I s'pose. "Krav Maga trained"... Haven't we heard that sort of thing somewhere before? His stairs clearly got properly dominated...

May have been aware of recent issues or threats hence the purchase of a Rottweiler?

I may be reading the story incorrectly, but it says he was woken by the noise of them attackng his son before the door was smashed in.

So was the son outside or was it an internal door he’s talking about?

Edit: this bit:

The incident happened around 3am yesterday morning, when he saw the men attacking 17-year-old son and Rottweiler puppy Zeus.
The father-of-two said: 'There was a loud bang at 3am when they smashed the patio doors to get in but I thought Zeus had knocked something over.
'By the time I got out of bed, totally naked, I was approaching the door and it was kicked in.

Obviously son has lent money off the wrong sort or been involved in some sort of criminal venture that hasn't worked out.
I reckon they broke in to sort the lad out, even the article says they were shouting, where's the money. The son has brought this to the household IMO

I think Sonny Jim has a bit of a drug habit, or worse has failed to pay up on a load that he sold for someone.

Sounds more likely than a chance burglary, doesn’t it...

Or maybe it was the other way around?

The son borrowed the thugs some money and they won’t give it back?

This sort of thing is precisely why tasers / pepper spray should be legalised for use in your own home.

You could deal with multiple assailants with no lasting damage

The law is fairly clear - you can use proportionate force in self defence. Proportionate force against 5 thugs passes most tests. They’d get asked to leave, and if they advanced a step further, they’d get forced to leave.

Could lead to a few problems though - I mean, there's a few posters on here who'd probably end up with the taser / pepper spray being used on them by their own wife or girlfriend laugh On saying that though, there's probably also a few PH'ers that would quite enjoy that sort of thing too hehe

rofl

HAHA!

Also, echoing the posts above, it's pretty obvious that the son has landed himself in a spot of bother. I just hope he didn't purchase the dog to look 'ard - poor thing (the dog).

I'd end up using the taser on myself just to see what its like...

The picture of the smashed in door is an internal door which isn't locked (although the key is in the lock).
It looks as if it's between the bedroom and the hall/landing. If it's unlocked why did they not just open the door? If it's locked, who sleeps with the bedroom door locked? In fact why does any internal door have a lock (except the batroom/ensuite)? And who breaks into a bathroom?

Something doesn't make sense. There is a lot more to this story than random thieves breaking into a random house, which might have an alarm, to demand money from someone who probably wouldn't have any amount of money on the premises.

What happened to the son while his father was playing the hero?

But if we can step back into reality for just a bit , they came to that blokes house with knives so if you produce a knife then it's still 5 v 1 so what do you plan on doing ?
