I work in the repair of electrical equipment for myself. I had a strange phone call yesterday from someone wanting me to fix something but they specifically wanted my address. I said i was out but id call him later that day, after an hour I get 3 missed calls off him one after another. Something didn't seem right as I pretty much always go to a person's business or home. I've had several more missed calls off the same number today and another call off another number. After searching the mobile numbers on facebook they are both friends on facebook. From looking at their friends list I can see someone I know. A person who I repaired something for and afterwards they wanted me to refund them in full after supposedly taking the item to be repaired elsewhere.

Im guessing this is linked but unsure why this person wants my home address. What counts as harassment? Can I block these numbers on an android phone?

Perhaps they're trying to get your address for service of small claims proceedings against you re. the alleged unsatisfactory repair.

Are they trying to get your address to send Small Claims paperwork?

Do you work from home?

Suspect that they want your address for a 'small claims' against you, and reading between the lines you suspect as much too.

How much was the refund requested? Will your Personal Liability Cover stand by you?

£205.00 was the amount. I repaired a camera with a new lens and they wanted a complete refund - and to keep the lens! Maybe this is linked maybe it isnt.

Are you a Limited company? If so your business address is in the public domain, so they'd track this down. Personally I'd block the call, or answer and state that you don't give out your home address.

RE any small claim, they would have to demonstrate that they gave you an opportunity to right any alleged problem, which they seemingly didn't.

sole trader.
They didn't give me any opportunity to rectify it . They went out and took it elsewhere and now want a refund.

If your phone is a Huwaei, you can "blacklist" a number so it goes to an engaged tone and bypasses the answerphone. You can also add rules to incoming numbers on some smartphones (android) which will effectively do the same thing.

Have a google on it, it's fairly simple to block a number via "settings".

Sounds like a chancer is looking for a refund.

Yes you can block a number on an Android phone, go to the call log, open the call, and top right select the three dots, and then Reject Call

File under ignore then. Up to you if you wish to tell them your position, I would, it may stop it dragging out.
