Keeping victims informed about prisoners release?
Discussion
Not a real situation - just something fictional I am involved with....
If somebody were to commit an assault and serve a prison term (say 5 years, let out after 3 on licence) - how much information would the original victim be given about the situation? Would they know the release had even occurred? Where that person was living? (Presumably, terms of the parole could require them to not contact the victim?)

7 years ago now, but I had a phone call to let me know when someone was being released. I didn't want to know more at the time. Dealt with the situation by putting things out of my thoughts. They seemed happy if I wanted to ask more though, but I'm not sure what else they would have told me.
