Ok long story short, bought car from main dealer, but not one of their franchise, one month down the line funny gearbox noise, now got it diagnosed by franchise who deals in this make of car, waiting for dealer who sold it to me to determine if warranty people will pay or not for the repair.

Now if the dealer decides to buy the car back from me, if the warranty people do not pick up the bill, or the dealer decides it is going to cost too much to repair, what should be my best approach seeing as I will not have a vehicle to go round looking for a new car, (the original deal included my car trading in
against the latest "new" one) and popping new tyres on due to the dealer ones were ditchfinder Greens.

So legally can I get them to hire/supply me a car until I find a suitable replacement, (it took me 12 months to get the last one), or can I shake them down for settlement for the inconvenience etc

All comments humorous or otherwise greatly welcomed biggrin;)idea

Surely you should be asking for the dealer to supply a chauffeur driven Bentley while you search for a replacement vehicle.

On call 24/7, fridge fully stocked with Dom Perignon, accept nothing less.

Why limit yourself to a Bentley, go for a helicopter man! If they refund you fully for a car you've had free use of for a while they have still heinously wronged you ! Possibly go to dealer principle and ask for his first born, and get some bit coins too.
Also if they do supply (only a car) make sure it takes you at least 25 years to find a replacement, id be angling for a replacement at least every 2 years until that time runs out.
You're worth it !

Will you be offering to make a contribution for the month you did use the car?

What a juvenile comment, did you feel all nice and smug after you posted that?

Well thanks for all the comments, since my post it turns out that the dealer is going to fork out for the replacement/repair even if the warranty people do not contribute and it will be at no cost to myself.

I would have thought I could have asked for the cost of the new tyres I have put on, and for the inconvenience of having to look for another car.
As for the Bentley, that would have been a come down would it not, Shirley it would have to be a more exclusive loan car, no chauffer as that would be taking the urine.
So seems all sorted.
Cheers to all.

Seriously? The dealer supplied you a car with legal tyres. You chose to change them, at your expense.

And as for the inconvenience thing - again - seriously?

I did. Try being original and vaguely funny, it often helps.

He has a good point, it wasn't original and it certainly wasn't funny.

Out of interest, what car is it you're having the problem with?
