Getting rid of drug dealers next door?
Discussion
Next door lives a class A drug dealer, Heroin and Crack. They talk quite openly and loudly about this, mostly, but not exclusively between 10PM and 6AM, a fair number of cars arriving, dealing and buggering off noisily, with the odd fight and argument thrown in.
This has been repeatedly reported to the police, who note the complaint, but nothing more unless I can provide evidence beyond a diary with times and description of events.
The children are getting increasingly reluctant to go outside alone, the neighbour is increasingly hostile to requests to make less noise at 3AM. Other neighbours are reluctant (scared or 'wont grass'). Yes, a s
t area to live.
So, how do I go about getting the evidence - descriptions, registration numbers, video, etc that will prompt police action? I'm reluctant to spend £500 on a load of cameras/video, or sneaking around with a video trying to look inconspicuous.
Any suggestions?

Crime stoppers may be worth a shout
- stuff going to crime stoppers, if good quality, gets fast tracked onto police intel systems and will get to any designated staff looking at drug supply in your area
https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give...
Stuff like this is the reason for community safety partnerships - joint projects between council and police which can be very effective if done well. So you could also try contacting Leicester CSP - if only to ask them for advice how to best report it. If you google, there are a few email addresses published for the Leicester CSP crime and anti social behaviour leads

Look up the police divisional commander (usually a superintendent or chief superintendent) on the force website; ask for their email address and the chief constable’s email address via 101. Write a clear, concise and polite email outlining the issue, your previous communication and enough detail for them to get a warrant. Ask them how they are going to deal with it. CC your MP, PCC and councillors.
We've had similar & a similar result from the local force eg effing useless. Interestingly we had better results using crimestoppers.
Being a council or housing association (HA) property imho makes it worse as they can pass the buck, they do & they will. The HA rely on the police to get their evidence, if the police dismiss it or ignore it, then they have none, this is how it works. The HA have an obligation to house these scrotes somewhere.
Go high & threaten to make they're lack of action public. Request that an ASB closure order is put on the place this is far far easier evidentially (the rules recently changed in your favour) the HA's hate these. In the end our local force used anti social behaviour rules & they were moved them on.
The weapons thing is interesting, there is a very high chance class A's will involve them, I'm sure if there is an argument overheard on a "busy day" other residents in the street will be aware too, if you think you "might" have seen something report it.
One I have recently been told about, request a ride along with the area unmarked traffic team directly. Most areas have these teams now & our county one has more success in one day nailing scrotes than the entire local NPT all year! If these vehicles have been visiting your street & caught red handed there is no denying it & it would be a simple task for a senior officer to apply a closure order.
Reg numbers are apparently the single most useful thing, tagged reg's & national ANPR apparently. Report via crimestoppers would be my suggestion.
Getting the door knocked in on intel might only result in a 30% of chance of finding something & even then they will often just get a slap on the wrist. So the ASB closure order route is better guarantee of getting rid its also a threat the HA that they cannot override with ease.

Do you think they will tell you how they are going to deal with it?JulianHJ said:

A very good answer! This would be my first port of call. Also include via attachment a concise, fact based, we'll formatted pack of evidence you have collected so far.
Images, registrations Inc make & model (incase cloned plates etc), times, outline descriptions, any recordings you have taken subtly with breif description if each video attached.
They are not going to tell you if they already have an operation on, but I would escalate up the hierarchy to make sure. If I recall correctly the convicted drug dealer that told his story here, had been under surveillance for months. If you come over ranty to them, if they think you can't keep your trap shut you will never learn anything until you see it in the papers.
I am of two minds on how to deal with this. I can understand that there may be an on-going surveillance operation and you might not want to disrupt it in any way.
But on the other hand, is it ethical for the police to tolerate anti-social criminal behaviour locally in order to benefit from a greater good?
There are rules in drug trials that the medics have to follow if monitoring a new treatment to some people while denying it to others. It is a difficult and controversial area. But do the police have protocols to follow in cases like the OP's?
In the meantime, the last time this came up here, a poster suggested changing your wi-fi ID to something like "xxxxshire Constabulary Mobile Operations Unit". Apparently the problem can go away very swiftly after that!
