Hi, wondering if anyone could shed some advice...

My girlfriend received a Parking Charge Notice some months ago for a hotel car park where she had a meeting, she had only been in the car park for 15 minutes as she had got stuck in congestion and due to no space ended up parking (and paying) down the road. At the time she wasn’t aware they operated ANPR, the normal process is to handover number plate to reception.

This was explained in an appeal which was never acknowledged to the parking management company and also to the hotel. The hotel itself continually state that it is no longer in their hands.

The letters have no began to come from a solicitors on behalf of the parking management company, stating the Charge has now grown to cover their fees and could result in civil recovery.

Now, given the lack of response to any sort of appeal initially it’s growing worrying - is this likely to be dropped if ignored or is this going to go the full hog? Actually speaking to someone is proving nigh on impossible!

Sorry for the long one, any help would be great!

Dont speak to the parking company. Only do it by letter (with proof of delivery) or email.

Write to the "solicitors" and say the debt is disputed and refer back to the parking company.
Go back to the hotel and say that the matter is still their problem whilst their parking contractor is chasing your girlfriend. They will most likely have a clause in the contract with them that allows them to cancel PCNs. Best bet would be to speak to the hotel manager and if no joy with that go straight to head office (always in writing)

Take it up with the hotel.

I have had exactly the same issue in the past, hotel sorted it out for me - no bother at all.
