Fraudulent Insurance Claim (???) - Thoughts / Help
Discussion
I've just received a text / email from my old insurance company, I changed insurers this week when my renewal was up.
They advise they have received correspondence that my Mrs crashed into the back of another (commercial) vehicle at the beginning of the March. Now the time and location they have given it is possible my Mrs would have been in that area at the time, doing the daily school run, however she is adamant that she hasnt been in any accident and certainly not crashed into the back of another vehicle.
There isn't a single mark or dent on her car.
Having never claimed on my insurance before and also given the fact I've just changed insurance companies I'm worried this is a con.
Any advice or anyone been through anything similar before. Not sure how this will pan out but am concerned from reading reports on here of insurance going up while "claims" are investigated?
Thanks

I'd be giving them a call and then following it up with an e-mail telling them in no uncertain terms that your vehicle/Mrs hasn't been involved in any accident and that this is a try-on.
If they've got your support, insurers are often keen on defending fraudulent claims. Take photos of your vehicle and send these with your e-mail to show there is no damage.
However, you need to be 100% certain that your Mrs hasn't been involved in or even caused an accident (whilst not actually being involved in it).
It could also be a question of cloned number plates I suppose.

IANAL but if it were me I would state that your wife has not been in an accident and that if they wishes to pursue such a claim they should provide evidence. If they provide evidence then that is for you to decide how to handle it. If not, where can they go? I wouldn't even mention that you have no damage. You could invite them to inspect your car at their earliest convenience though!

I have confirmed to the Insurance company she was not involved in any accident,. I have emailed them images of the car and advised they are welcome to do an inspection to confirm it has not been in an accident nor received any repairs.
I have also advised they are welcome to inspect the vehicle as well as requesting CCTV and any witness statements from the other vehicle.
