Or Google maps timeline history if your 'location' is switched on?
no, my location was off, just my laptop browsing history. Surely they should provide evidence not me.That isn't the case though is it? There has to be evidence to convict you. You don't have to say anything other than it wasn't you until the evidence is heard. Then the prosecution actually have to prove beyond reasonable doubt and at that point you'd be wise to be able to create reasonable doubt.
I'd do the same as the op. State the facts that it wasn't him, nor was it his car as it was on his drive at the time. I'd probably assemble any supporting evidence that I could so that memory isn't dulled over time.

With traffic offences you are guilty until proven innocent though. I know that it is stated that you are still presumed innocent until proven guilty in court etc, but in practical terms, you have to prove it was not you. If you say nothing, you get an MS90 punishment so I don't buy into the "innocent until proven guilty" with regards to motoring offences.

Just had a NIP through, my Reg but it was not me. I've ticked the box to advise this on the form, but it also asked for a letter with supporting evidence.
Is it as simple as saying it wasn't me, myself and my car were 150 miles away, me at home and my car on my drive.
If you have received a notice with your registration on and your car was not there then it is highly likely that the ANPR in the back office has misread the registration number of the subject vehicle. Is it as simple as saying it wasn't me, myself and my car were 150 miles away, me at home and my car on my drive.
When you write back the police will look at the registration on the notice and compare it with the images from the camera. It is likely that there has been a misread and your notice will be cancelled.
The conspiracy theories, cloned plates and other mischievous suggestions can simply be ignored.
It would appear that this is becoming a more common issue.

Do you mean cloned plates can simply be ignored because it doesn't happen anymore? It would appear that this is becoming a more common issue.
I've had my plate cloned, twice. I don't know whether the incidents, which were roughly 18 months apart, were related but the plate has been used on two vehicles other than mine.

I posted on her when my wife got a speeding ticket which could not have been her. Unfortunately the consensus on PH was that she was lying and probably cheating on me so rather than being at work.
We wrote back disputing the ticket, got a letter back along the lines of procedures had not been followed correctly and the ticket was cancelled.

I don’t really understand why saying something very clearly must imply the mutual exclusion of all other possibilities. Sure you have had your plates cloned as have others but that isn’t the “most likely cause” of this issue posed by the OP.
If he comes back in a week to confirm his plates are cloned fair enough but I don’t think that is likely...unless of course he simply does that to suggest I’m wrong.

They have a photo of a car bearing that registration, exceeding the speed limit. That registration has come back to you, as RK.So there's three likely options.
1. Somebody's misread the plate in the pic. It happens.
2. Your plate's been cloned. It happens.
3. It was your car, and you don't want to play the game. It happens.
Now, the question is which of the three is most likely in a situation where the RK immediately gets their back up at the thought of being asked whether it was them or not...

Ask for photos to id the driver, perhaps yours has a sticker or something on it that would give them a clue the plate has been cloned..send it back with a pic
Careful about that... This guy thought he had a good get-out based on "Oh, but mine differs slightly from the photo"http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-30143077
