A converted house has been turned into two flats. Is a share of freehold. One flat is rented and the other owner lives in.
The problems is buildings cover for landlords is different to private owners. What kind of policy is needed?

I have talked to both private and landlord insurance company's and the landlord one has said you have to use them and the private said there cover is fine as its 50% owner occupier. Anybody know?

It really should be covered on policy either in joint names, or a small management company set up to handle this and other joint matters.

Is this in Scotland or elsewhere in the U.K.?

It's in the UK.
As one is owner/occupier and the other owns only one flat they rent, setting up a company seems a bit much.
Its seems we can go either way of having a business or residential policy?
