Sleeping in car in an NCP after having drink. safe/legal?
Discussion
not drink driving but you would still be legally in charge of a motor vehicle .
its also against NCP policy

9. Safety in the Car Park
For safety reasons you are not entitled to remain in your vehicle in the Car Park or elsewhere in the Car Park except for the purposes of parking or removing your vehicle.

I'll stay off the alcohol and drive home then, thank you
I've often wondered this in advance of having a few drinks in London - it's the only place I visit where I park at my local station and get the train to my final destination - however have always decided on either not drinking or getting a taxi home and collecting the car the next day, just to be safe...
When we were young and daft we would drive to a town around 40 mile away for a "night out" and end up kipping in the car, not giving this a second thought! It never occurred to us the possibility that we could have been accused of drink driving / in control of a motor under the influence.
Like I say, when I was young and daft before I got old and dafter

NCP wouldn't let you stay, but I think you would probably be fine sleeping even with the keys in the ignition, as although the public have access to the car park, it is barrier controlled so may count as private land?
A barrier doesn't stop the car park being a public place and therefore drink drive legislation will still apply.Cat
