Does MOT data update immediately?

My car is booked in for MOT next week, currently sorn, I have insured it and realized i can't tax it online without an MOT, my question is once its passed the MOT will be i be able to tax it online right away?

I've checked and it normally updates overnight so it can be taxed next day.

I find the MOT updates online before I'm given the keys back to my car (I wait during my MOT). I know my dad's cars always update before he comes back from the MOT station (he goes somewhere different).

Mine updated within minutes of the test finishing.

I found it varies from year to year, sometimes it updates the same day but last week i took a car for an MOT on Monday and it wasn't until Thursday morning when it was updated.

Usually depends on whether the MOT station's connection to the server is working properly at the time of test - if it is, it should update in real time. If they have to do it manually it might be overnight depending on whether they have to wait for the system to come back up....

As was stated above, in my experience as I too was waiting to tax, I had the garage trailer it there, it was tested, passed and as soon as I pulled the car out, I went online to tax & it was there.

Last time I had my car in for MOT, I could see the result on the site before they even called me to tell me the car was ready!

You do realise you can drive it to get an MoT without tax don't you?

And can drive away from the MOT station without tax too. Best friend recently got caught driving without tax on the way back from the MOT, he had no idea he had and taxed it online that afternoon anyway. It was quite the surprise when the "out of court settlement" came through telling him to pay about £380 and tax the car. He appealed obviously sending copies of the MOT and the tax acknowledgement that he's had emailed. Took them a week and a bit to reply but they cancelled it with no further correspondence.

Mine on a Sat was good with in 3h, and did not check before but seemed like it was ready there and then.
