I'm not legally trained, sadly. However, I can explain that the mysterious button above Shift is called "caps lock" and it's use should be carefully considered if you want people to reply seriously, rather than assuming you're some kind of loon.

I'm not a 'legal bloke' but I guess a vehicle is only allowed to drive on authorised parts of the highway. That being the carriageway.
Footpaths, verges, slopes etc. are not part of the carriageway, but are part of the highway.....as the highway is everything within the "highway boundary", from fence to fence to put it another way.

Yeh, why shouldn't everybody be allowed to drive down the pavement, with Mrs Miggins having to dive out the way for her life?
