Long story short.

I bought some goods off a private seller. The seller owned a company but was selling these items privately.

Paid into their private bank account.

Goods not arrived and seller now claiming no knowledge.

Going to issue an LBA but should I also inform the Police?

I have 'hearsay' that they resold the goods to someone else but nothing that constitute legal evidence.

Cheers.

I have a receipt. My BACS payment and emails.

The only thing I don't have is the original advert.

if it was an internet advert and you have your history you can get the original advert look in your cache,

had to do this once for a car advert. wayback may work for you?

Surely the police will just trot out the usual line about this being a civil matter..

I recently tried to buy some wheels from another forum, bank transfer to someone who was going to ship them. Never turned up.
Got a crime reference number from ActionFraud, and then contacted my bank who tried to recover the money for me. There were insufficient funds in the "sellers" account, but they obviously also contacted him and within a few days I had a refund.

As above, that's one for action fraud, easy enough to report online.
