Suspect neighbour has stolen a parts delivery
Discussion
Long story short, I ordered some items from China, they are recorded as being delivered at 09:52am on the 24th May, the postman went to my RH neighbour at 09:54am on the 24th May (CCTV footage) so I suspect he delivered my stuff to the LH neighbour by accident, the LH neighbour came around at 19:00ish that day (again CCTV) holding 2 parcels, but I was away for a week on holiday at the time.
I only found out that it had been recorded as delivered just today when I was checking the delivery status of outstanding items.
The neighbours on the LH side really f**king hate me, they're a bit on the rough side and think i'm posh because I drive a 10 year old car, have 20 year old car in the garage and actually have a f**king job. I woke up yesterday morning to find one of their friends tearing up and down the street on a quad bike, THAT is the sort of people we're talking about.
Anyway, i've got two parcels outstanding and i'm convinced they've decided to just keep them, the seller is reluctant to refund as they have confirmation of delivery.
Does anyone have experience of this? and is it time to involve plod? is my evidence any use?

Firstly have you knocked and asked them?
They came over that day to give them to you.
No, the last time I spoke to them the woman was screeching incoherently over the fence at me, accusing me popping the kids football and throwing it back (it makes absolutely no sense why anyone would do that), followed by a nail through my tyre. They're just not reasonable people and have no reasonable sense of escalation, if they catch a hint that I think they stole something, i'm concerned they will retaliate in an unpredictable and extreme manner, we've got two 3 cars and a garage full of expensive equipment, I would not put it past them to burn it to the ground. They came over that day to give them to you.
I don't know why they tried to bring the parcels round, the guy there is pretty normal, but if the woman had gotten wind that my parcels were there, then there's no way i'd see them again.
Your neighbour has made one attempt to give you the parcels. It's up to you to collect them now. If you don't want to speak to them, get someone else to knock on their door.
Not sure how it works in other areas, but where I live it's normal for the parcel owner to collect from the person who accepted the delivery.
The way I see it, they did me a favour by taking the parcel in, the least I can do is walk next door and collect it, rather than expecting them to keep trying my house to see if I'm in.
When I sign for a neighbour's parcel, I always make sure that the courier pops a card through their door so that they know I have it.
Accusing them of stealing, when they have already made an attempt to give it to you, is a bit strong.

Man up and go and ask seems easiest option unfortunately. With regards to the seller, you asked them to deliver to your address, and didn't specify an alternate safe space. So it being not delivered to your address is their problesm, it's between the seller and the courier he used. Does the tracking say delivered to a neighbour, show a signature that is not yours?

Depending upon what the said items are, you could, at 3am, burn their house down with them nicely tucked up inside it, then the next day sift through the ashes and retrieve said items.
This is the PH solution. Fast and Spurious, you are hereby appointed King of PH, at least until next Thursday. As a bonus, OP, collect any gold teeth or surviving chav bling from the charred bones and sell it all down the local Cash Converters. Win x Win to the power of Win.

They have something you paid for - surely a small investment in actually getting them is worthwhile
Pop down the local shop and buy a bottle of Lambrini - bang on the door and say you're sorry but you think they've been holding a couple of parcels for you by mistake and you would like to offer this as a thank you
They'll find them .....

Put your big boy pants on and go ask them for the parcels. Knock the door, 'sorry to bother you but I believe 2 parcels were delivered'.
I'd be pretty miffed if you just sat there expecting them to drop them round for you. You could be worrying over nothing!
Just to add, I have a lockable storage parcel box - the couriers love it and very rare they won't use it (they can lock it). Obviously the parcels need to be a size that will fit, but its a big box.

Surely if somebody has been kind enough to take parcels in for you, you know so they don't get sent to a depot miles away or worse, back to the sender and you have to re-order them etc - then the polite thing to do is the leg work and retrieve your own parcels?
Maybe your neighbours should charge you a little storage.

They don't know that I know, therefore that changes things a little, it means they've decided these items belong to them.wildoliver said:
Can you imagine what the police would say? "Have you been next door and asked them?" "Well no the lady might shout at me".
"Righto".
She doesn't shout, she screeches at high volume, there is literally no point speaking or trying to speak to this woman, I tried once and i've never met someone who can make constant noise non-stop for in excess of 10 minutes. It has to be witnessed to be believed, it's utterly bonkers."Righto".
you came on here to ask a random bunch of strangers what to do and the mighty PH has spoken and for once this time they are right. You might need to finesse it along the lines of I was expecting a parcel recently and think it may have been delivered here, or you thieveing pie key scum stole my stuff, now give it back.
