Hi guys wonder if you could help. My wife recently went on a long weekend trip to Rome with her sisters as a 50th birthday celebration. Booked an Airbnb small apartment for 4 nights at a cost of £422 anyway on arrival late in the afternoon it soon became apparent the place was in a terrible state. The place was filthy none of the bedding had been washed very badly stained and smelled of sweat and sun tan lotion. The shower didn’t work properly and the power tripped out every time you put something on. They took loads of pictures and I can honestly say that it was nothing like the pics on the advert and I certainly would not have stayed there.
Anyway they had to stay for the first night all three of them just laid on the top of one of the beds and next morning booked a hotel nearby.
The Host will not answer any of our emails requesting a refund of the three nights they didn’t stay. Is there anything else I can do will
the credit card company allow a charge back. Will Airbnb help or just side with the host any help or experience would be appreciated.
Chris

You should ask Air BnB, and then if they won't do anything then try the credit card company.

Why does this thread exist if you haven't talked to Airbnb yet? confused

We had a 15-strong family booking cancelled 4 days before we were due to arrive, inky found out when the organiser emailed then took ask why payment hadn't been taken.

Airbnb helped us find alternative accommodation & refunded us the significant (£350) difference.

Fingers crossed you get a refund. Be sure a suitable review was left. I imagine something as simple as cleaners sick/forget/didn't turn up.

Exactly this OP.

Airbnb is very good at resolving disputes (in my direct experience) and are fair and swift.

If it was exactly as you state, and you have evidence, should get the matter resolved to your satisfaction.

Tbh, it was a Sunday and airbnb will take a day or two to wake up. Hearing other people's experiences of airbnb gives him an idea of what to expect!

I had a very similar situation in New York a couple of years back. I contacted AirBnB who were very good and worked with the host to give us a refund. Pretty painless experience all in all. Best bet is to speak to them!
