Is pollution a reason in the road traffic act for creating a speed limit?

Besides if the problem is with diesel cars or trucks shouldnt the limit appy to just those rather than including petrol and electric vehicles?

No doubt to be accompanied by numerous "traffic control" measures, i.e. speed cameras / vans.
Since moving back to the UK 1 month ago, living in North wales, I have seen two traffic cars on the road and the mobile speed van 5 times so far.
Another stealth tax on the motorist, the A494 is a terrible road as it is.

The stretch though PT has been 50 for a while now, and now extended another junction. The motorway is busy but nothing compared to the m25.It’s hardly a coincidence that pollution is high there. There’s the steel works. A gas power station, a energy from waste plant, a crematorium, a toilet paper factory, a chemical factory, factories that make bread, deodorant cans and many other things right next to this motorway on the baglan energy park. I bet the motorway is just a drop in the ocean compared to that lot.
Research apparently indicates 40-50mph is best for emissions so hence choosing 50.
What they fail to grasp is that in most peaks that stretch of the motorway is a car park, which is why it suffers from air quality problems. I doubt reducing speeds when there are free flow conditions will offset the air quality problems from the peaks.

And originally brought in for noise pollution reasons.Some poor buggers literally live in-between the South Wales main line and the M4.

And without asking, maybe people like it there.I suspect if any would like to move, do not have the means. Often where you live might not be your ideal choice and pockets are not deep enough. I don't like the estate I am in but cannot really afford to move.

The one near Wrexham is ridiculous. The reason the pollution is so bad is because the traffic is at a standstill in the rush hour bit because it's going too fast.
The reason it's at a standstill is because despite spending millions and months changing the road layout they f
ked it up and made it worse.
Plus of course they need to get that money back somehow they have Assembly member's payrises to cover

If anyone doesn't think the emissions the Steel works put out isn't massaged either then they're deluded, dropping the speed limit will likely have a negligible affect in the grand scheme of things for the area however it's the only thing that probably won't lose jobs.
