I think the associated alcohol level may tip this into serious territory.

Once in custody, police said, he was found to be under the limit, but will face action for the speeding offence.
Just speeding then. No suggestion of poor driving in the article.

If he has 5 or fewer points and pleads guilty then anticipate a ban of 1-3 months.

I'm amazed. I thought the punishment would be much more serious than that i.e. custodial.

If a driver wasn't speeding, just blown OPL, then at the station blew under the PL, the driver would face no action.

As such the driver in the report is just speeding. Maybe the police shouldn't have mentioned the result of the breath test.

so he had one pint probably and did 130+ - the pint is irrelevant (although not sensible!!) as it was under the legal limit.

Not quite sure why it was a miracle he didn't kill himself. 130+ although well into illegal territory isn't particularly fast assuming his car was in good order.

Yes, sorry, I misread the report. Makes sense now.

Why has BBC News included the speed in metric, "A suspected drink-driver was clocked at an "unbelievable" 132mph (212km/h), police have said."

Don't they understand this is Great Britain and distance is 'Imperial'? No need for that foreign nonsense here!

He/they must have been only minutes behind us, we'd been to Ikea in MK that evening and would have been on the drive home to St Neots around that time but didn't see anyone stopped.

I thought the legal limit was 1? I know it depends on size of the human.

If he was over, and then just under, wouldn't that be 1?

A few variables I guess, how much you have had to eat, size of person etc?

yeah - that's my understanding - but with it being so close I'm curious why then it would be at least 2?

it could have been 1 glass of wine - or a whiskey and coke?

I don't know because I've never been breathalysed and scored anything, so I have no baseline

Strength of the beer, the metabolism of the person - loads of variables.

132 in a focus is going some; must have been an ST or RS... Or it's a steep down hill?

1 pint of normal strength beer won’t put an adult male anywhere near the drink drive limit in this country.
