This is not correct. It depends on the quality of the prep, matching of the paint and who does the rest of the work.

Unless the paint is a very awkward colour to match then a proper repair should be undetectable.

How much did the garage charge you for this job?
I would ask for most of it refunded and give up on them,then find a good paint shop who can do a better job.
