Red ring around it makes it the speed limit. No red ring and it’s merely advisory.

The people ignoring it know what the cameras look like and which gantries they are on.

And a related question, do the bridge speed cameras adjust to the temp limit or are they fixed at the national speed limit?
You mean the gantry cameras ? Those and the variable speed limit signs are part of the same system.

Sorry guys, it's not the "fast lane" it's the German car lane, with invited guests, ie Range Rovers, insignias (unless they're broken down, then you'll find them on the H/S)

I want to know what limit you're supposed to follow when there are multiple different limits displaying on the same gantry. Before someone from HE says this is not possibly, it is as I saw it the other night. Gantry over the M6, had both 30 and 40 limits displaying over the carriageway simultaneously from the one gantry.

The one displayed above the lane you're in?

No, it's the BMW lane and nobody else is invited!

Especially not LR tractors or Vauxhalls (even if they may have been built in Britain for over 100 years - just badly). laugh

Or how about on the M25
Between Ricky & M40
Ganrtry signs show 40, 10yds beyond is a fixed 'real' NSL....
40-70 in 33 ft anyone smile

Not sure if there is a camera on the gantry either.

I also see regularly on this stretch that the gantry frequently has one lane with no speed limit, and 40 on the rest....
Mute point if you are going to get nabbed - you cant usually max out at 40...

My car (yes it's one of those German brands that "allows" me to use the right hand lane all the time :-)) shows me the mandatory speed limit on the dash or on a HUD......and it changes within a few metres of the variable limits gantry on the M25 when the limit is reduced. No idea how it knows this, but it does !!

Camera in the windscreen aimed to pick out red circles with numbers in.
