Untaxed vehicle now SORN (on road) DVLA not interested.
Discussion
Hi
Just wondered what is the point of tax / SORN when a car can be abandoned in December 2017 on a public road (no rear number plate or tax) and 7 months later is SORN'ed now with no plates at all and DVLA do nothing? The car is parked over half on the pavement so anyone with a buggy or in a wheelchair cannot get past it.
DVLA have said they 'cannot just take a car away' and that's it. They also said bizarrely its a council issue???
The car is basically rotting into the road.
Thanks

I reported a car in similar circumstances to you, it was gone within a fortnight.

Report to DVLA as untaxed - https://www.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle
Report to your council as abandoned. One or the other will do something about it.

I’ve reported in December using the DVLA link you provided. I’ll speak to the Council. I wasn’t aware it was a council issue, thought it was down to DVLA and their clamping vans you see driving around.
If they can't identify it, they won't touch it. No plate, no action taken....... (but sounds like clamp wouldn't help anyway).lyonspride said:

It will have the VIN showing somewhere and they can find the registration from that, if they can’t see a VIN or registration it’ll definitely get towed as likely stolen.
Depends on the age of the car. Older cars didn't have the VIN in a position that was readable unless you had access into the carButter Face said:
