Impersonating a (foreign) Police car

Do I assume that having a vehicle liveried up as a foreign Police car in the UK is absolutely fine as long as it does not have blue lights and you aren't being a colossal Walt attempting to pull people over etc.? Think US Police cruisers, Polizia Lambos etc. or is there a possibility of having action taken against you even though the similarity to a UK Police car is minimal/none.

...because given your travels in it, I doubt UK issues would be your biggest.

It was related to the sodding great ex UAE fully liveried diplomat transport vehicle one of my neighbors has just purchased for a giggle but you've just given me an amazing idea for this years rally livery...........because given your travels in it, I doubt UK issues would be your biggest.
