Didn't overtake; didn't look like overtaking and most of the time there were no cars *to* overtake.

Could have chosen a better photo... Looks to me like just keeping up with traffic and will be overtaking the HGV in L1.

All at an average speed . Hadn't overtaken the HGV for two junctions.

I'll take my potato with me next time.

Looks more to me like Plod has just laid a nice "11", drifted into lane 2 and just about got it straightened up - good going in a twin-wheel van....rolleyes

Are you saying this was through a restricted speed area, all lanes travelling at the same speed because of average speed cameras?

With all due respect to your profession, what difference does that make? If the bus was driving badly it's OK for the copper to do the same?

There's always something up ahead to overtake at some point, if the OP would have had time to pass on the inside then the MLM had space to move left and should have done so. It may be convenient/easy to just stay in the middle lane because there is a vehicle somewhere ahead that you will pass at some point but it's also lazy/inconsiderate when the LH lane is clear and could be used.

Twice in May and once again yesterday.

That's about the same frequency I see Police cars patrolling the A3/M3.

Just need more out there pulling these morons over, but it's a bit like trying to get rid of an ant nest by treading on the odd ant when you spot one.

Based on the posted picture, that looks like a complete non-story to me!

The OP would have supported their story a lot better had they taken a picture of the Police van sitting in lane 2 with absolutely no other traffic on the road ahead of it.

As it is, it seems to be a very weak attempt at Police bashing!

you obviously don't subscribe to keep left apart from overtaking then?

Just a bit of irony. But as you've mentioned it, he was sat in that lane for two junctions; is there an applicable exemption I'm missing?
