I bought 5 x Samsung Washer Dryers for a project from a well known online retailer. I wasn't told that the warranty had to be registered within 90 days and now I a beyond that.

Do I have any recourse with Samsung as I paid more for machines with a 5 year warranty for this purpose.

Seriously?

You didn't bother reading the paperwork that came with them, and it's somebody else's fault?

No one said 'fault'

You seem always to focus on making a relatively innocent question seem far more. Dear me...

OK, so Samsung are completely whiter-than-white and innocent in the whole question.

So why is there any "recourse" needed against them?

TooMany2cvs, why are you always so provocative? There is no need to try to belittle people in every one of your threads.

I assume that the OP may be talking about some enhanced benefits offered as part of a sale deal. He will still have his bog standard statutory protections with regard to the stuff he has bought going FOOM, and those protections do not depend on registration. If someone wants extra goodies over and above the statutory stuff, then it's not a big ask to read a notice and fill in a form. The form tends to be attached to the gubbins that comes with the white goods, and quite often there is a sticker on the machine saying register your warranty, and so on.

We had a boiler fixed under a two year warranty even though I didn't register at the time. Just call the customer services and explain what's happened and politely ask what the score is.

Why on earth should you have to register a warrenty?

If it comes with say a 2 year warrenty, just give that , ask for proof of purchase for start date if you must, this shoudnt be allowed

Perhaps it shouldn't. But it's perfectly legal - and it's very, very common.

See this worries me a lot as I must have purchased about 30 different appliances in the last 6 months, from £20 toasters to £6,000 boilers, I've not checked the paperwork for a single one, as they are normally purchased, installed and paperwork lost by plumbers, kitchen fitters, electricians etc

I did something similar with a Miele appliance.

Gave customer service a call and as long as I could show proof of purchase within warranty period, repair would be honoured.

Check that the warranty is in fact transferable?

I paid extra for 'better' products with the 5 year warranty and as it's a project, there was no intention of using them straight away. The online retailer didn't inform me of the 90 day condition and when I have called Samsung Customer Service they say 'computer says no'.

I didn't see anything in the paperwork saying I need to register within 90 days - all I got was a a receipt for purchase from the online retailer and in the box came the usual instruction manuals. Warrany Registraton is done online usually or over the phone (no forms to fill in manually).

I'm sure they have a standard '2 year warranty' but I did pay a lot of money for these for the piece of mind of 5 years. I just wondered if there is anything I can do? Obviously, if I have to take it on the chin, I will..

Anyone here work for Samsung?

You know why, because he's an ahole. I don't think it goes any deeper than that.

I never fill these forms out and I always assumed they were just a way to harvest more of your details. My opening gambit to anyone wanting information is no, you can't have it.

Op - I'd be pointing out that you had bought something with 5 years warranty and have the proof of sale. I'm not sure the warranty can legally be restricted due to the form. If it is so critical they need to make sure customers are filling them out at point of sale. I'd mention to Samsung you are more than happy to progress this legally. I'd be amazed if they didn't do the right thing.

I wouldn't worry, a samsung warranty isn't worth the paper its written on anyway.

I think they are allowed to apply additional terms to a warranty that exceeds consumer rights.

So a very brief look at Samsung's appliance website finds...
https://my-samsung.com/offers/fiveyearwarranty/

Standard two-year warranty, extended to five as an offer - on redemption within 90 days.
