My local hospital has a problem of staff/delivery vans stopped along the side of the road waiting for a space in the car parks, this creates a dangerous situation as the enterances to the car parks have double yellows and zig zags for crossings. With the cars parked over these it causes a danger to pedestrians as they have to walk out between the cars and its also not fair on the drivers using the road as they can't propperly see people crossing.

I have spoken to the PCSO that is assaigned to the site and he told me that they have issued tickets to these people sat on the zig zags but when they have gone to court every one of them have be squashed because its private land. I asked so can I speed, use a phone, drink while driving on the site. He just shrugged his shoulders.

They are not issuing anymore tickets now so the site seems to be a free for all. Is this correct? I thought it was only private if gated/blocked off from the public.

At my local hospital, the car parks are all owned by a private individual, who has somehow managed to swing it with the local councillors and council officials (big fat brown mystery envelopes handed out on the Golf course), to get every road within 5 miles painted with double yellow lines, however they managed to under estimate the parking requirements, meaning even the hospital staff cannot park sometimes. It's an absolute bun fight all day every day for parking and the parking charges are so expensive, that can't blame anyone who parks "illegally" for a sort time.

If the parking charges weren't being set to make massive profits, so that some c*nt can sit at home earning £50'000 a day from people visiting a hospital, I might take a different stance.

I know parking is a pain but I was just asking about the Private/Public land bit.

We all feel the pain of parking these days unfortunatly.

I suspect that "private individual" is actually the NHS trust.

Apparently not though.
