High speed Police convoy on the M3 this morning.
Discussion
M3 this morning, heading to work this morning, Southbound.
Noticed Blues about a mile behind me, approaching about 80mph, when the car overtook me, it was a marked 5 series, surprised to see it was Met Police.
Cruised past, 3 up. 2 minutes later, another, with a dark blue or black Sprinter, with concealed blues, followed by a marked Range Rover, all very close together, followed a couple of minutes later, by another marked Rangie, also on blues. No sirens on any vehicles.
I am assuming either a high value prisoner, or a training exercise?
What surprised me, was the fact that, as soon as they could, the marked vehicles moved to lane 2, whilst the the van remained in lane three?

Possible scenario...first car is en route to "take" the next junction and control it before convoy arrives.
Last vehicle "catching up" having taken previous junction.
I like it when you see the Special Escort Group doing this on their motorbikes, very impressive watching them make progress. There are some good clips on YouTube.Last vehicle "catching up" having taken previous junction.
I'd hazard a guess that the cars mentioned above moving back into lane 2 is a protection method for the van maybe?
