I have to drive from the m3 onto the 316 to richmond everyday,
the amount of people doing over 50 mph on the journeys makes me wonder if these cameras work , has anyone been fined or know if they work ?
not that I want to fly along but iam steadily watching the speedo at 50 making sure I don't go over that , if a few mph over that gives me a fine then I'll stick to it

I frequently drive on that stretch of road and I always seem to have people pass me at way above the speed limit. I've never had a ticket purely because I now stick to the speed limit but I do know two people who have accumulated 3 points a piece for speeding on that very road.

You'll probably find your rigorous sticking to a speedo 50mph means your actual speed is upto 5 even 10% lower (speedos generally read high). You can check how accurate yours is with a GPS/phone.

Combine that with cameras that have a 10%+ leeway you could plausibly get a 10mph difference and no ticket.

I generally stick the cruise on 53mph GPS when safe and pass the majority of cars. No ticket yet.

I use Waze as my speedo through the average speed zones. Often I'm in different cars which is why I rely on Waze for a more accurate reading as the cars can under-read by anything from 2-5 mph.

A good friend of mine's daughter got a ticket in the same area and he is adamant that she showed him the ticket and it was for travelling at 52mph. I haven't seen it so can't confirm either way but he's not someone who tells tall tales.

May have been 52 in the 40mph limit, which applies closer into London.

I was referring to the 50mph zone. This was shortly after the zone became active so I don't know if that had any bearing?
