One here yesterday too, not green, but no insurance either.

Here's an interesting question.
The Police tweeted that they returned it to the finance company because they 'owned' it.
So in the eyes of the law, how can they then claim the driver owned it?
Maybe the driver has a point in that his TP insurance on the SEAT is valid to allow him to drive other people's cars.
I'm not suggesting that what he did wasn't bellendery of the highest order btw.

He doesn't have a point. He's clutching at straws. The Police tweeted that they returned it to the finance company because they 'owned' it.

My certificate says this:
"The policyholder may also drive, with the owner’s permission, a motor car not belonging to, or hired or leased to them or their partner."
That's a reasonably standard exclusion.
And the critical part of the above is "with the owner's permission", so, if it was owned by the lease company unless they gave him permission he would not be covered under his own policy."The policyholder may also drive, with the owner’s permission, a motor car not belonging to, or hired or leased to them or their partner."
That's a reasonably standard exclusion.
Also, you would normally only be covered for third party damage when driving someones else's car.

Bonkers how people play it... regardless of the road traffic act situation he’s happy to take a £350k hit if it’s... stolen, sets itself on fire, he prangs it... anything really!
He wouldn't be taking the hit, the finance company would. The finance company could probably pursue him for their loss but if he hasn't got a pot to piss in/ has stashed his cash/ decides to feck off to Timbuktu they'd have a job on their hands.
I think this guy belongs in the "I don't give a f

I'm just waiting for the Tweet about a knackered Corsa being recovered for the same offence. I wonder why this particular car was highlighted.
Have a look through our account. There are more pics of boring fords/vauxhalls than lambo's being seized.... Here you go.. Here's an astra.. https://twitter.com/HantsPolRoads/status/104675049...
Some interesting stuff always coming from the Dorset No Excuse RPU team. And now Cornwall are following their lead with a full team of 16 staff announced this week. It appears RPU teams do more policing than any other area of the force & hence getting attention in the media & getting monetary support vaguely back towards the good old days.
If you fancy a good laugh at the scrotes expense have a read through these posts. I think the record is 16 drug drivers nicked by two coppers in one day! https://www.facebook.com/dorsetpolicenoexcuse
