Can I block someone’s car on my own property?
Discussion
This evening I went down my drive to find a car parked half over my drive, and half into a an adjacent gravel area (which is also mine). I could barely get out. I called my neighbour who said it wasn’t a visitor, or anything to do with her. If it wasn’t for me having to give my sons friend a lift home, I would have blocked them in and waited for a knock in the door. When I got back from my brief trip (c.10 mins), the car had gone.
Would I have broken any laws by blocking the vehicle on my property? Both vehicles would have been entirely on my property.
Some people are just unbelievably stupid and/or cheeky.

You'd probably need to consider s.54 Protection of Freedoms Act 2012SS2. said:

Ok so that’s useful to know, because next time I go for a hospital appointment, rather than pay a car park fee, or a ‘residential permit only’ road fine, I’ll just park on some random person’s drive and they won’t legally be able to do a thing about it.
Is that really correct?
In essence, Yes, to my understanding - I seem to remember there was a post from a similar perspective where someone had abandoned a car on the drive, and there was nothing much the owner could do about it.Is that really correct?

One thing is for certain; you would look like a right knob if it was a doctor parked there, or someone visiting someone due to an emergency. It’s a one off, let it slide!
And I’m the knob?

Would be a shame if one of the local yoofs let a tyre or 2 down though, wouldn't it?
Then they drive off, have an accident and kill some innocent random? Yup.Can’t believe I couldn’t park on my own drive, unfortunately blocking them in and let them sort out the consequences of their trespassing.

Half way through the party, someone gets stabbed, and the person who’s car is partially parked on your driveway is the only driver to get them to the hospital. They can’t get out because you’ve completely (not partially) blocked them in, because you couldn’t let it slide.
The stab victim dies.
How long would it take for the “well he shouldn’t have parked on my drive” attitude to fade away before you have to cope with being ridden with guilt for the rest of your life.
Extreme and unlikely scenario, especially with our very well funded ambulance services only minutes away(!), but you see my point.
See it from both sides. Weigh it up.

Let’s say for argument’s sake that they’ve partially blocked your driveway out of pure selfishness, to park their car before going to a party up the road.

Yeah, and then what if an asteroid lands on the nearby monkey farm which allows all the monkeys to escape but they are carrying a virus that is deadly to all schoolchildren but not the bus driver so the bus driver is accused of killing all the kids on his bus so goes to court only needing the testimony of the doctor who is still stuck behind the OP's car so he's found guilty and and and the phonecall was made from inside the house? So trying to see it from both sides, what if the OP has a stroke or heart attack and his OH can't get off his drive because of the partygoers blocking the drive? Then it's got to be fair to say that the "he shouldn't have parked on my drive" attitude would be a fair one to have!
Why is it so difficult to park properly FFS?
If someone parked on my property I'd enjoy blocking them in!

Damned right. That is the reason why I stopped inserting lightbulbs up my backside. I realised one could get stuck in there and I’d have to walk, very gently and slowly, to A&E. The doctor and several nurses could be removing said lightbulb from my backside when all of a sudden an air ambulance chopper on the way to the hospital crashes just short straight into a school for special needs kids. One of the tail rotor blades impailes a hapless passing motorist in the guts while the leaking Jet A1 sets off a nasty asthma attack in a passing bus full of members and volunteers of the Asthma Society of the U.K.
And there is no doctor to deal with any of this, just because they are busy removing the lightbulb from out of my ass.

Yep. I’d recommend you stop doing this too.The doctor and several nurses could be removing said lightbulb from my backside when all of a sudden an air ambulance chopper on the way to the hospital crashes just short straight into a school for special needs kids. Remember people, if you're woken in the night by a burglar, make sure you don't interrupt them because it's a probably a doctor procuring a suitable kitchen implement with which to perform a tracheotomy to save the life of your mum who happens to be dying on your driveway.
In fact I'd recommend leaving your front door open every night just in case.

Lets say for fairness sake, that its nothing to do with the above scenario, as that is the least probable option of many options.
Instead, lets assume that its is just another 'ill only be 5 mins' warrior who assumed that inconveniencing strangers was Ok.
OP>
From reading many of these type of posts and the results that people have reported, inconveniencing the other party seems to work well in stopping repeat occurrences, and despite the assertions of 'experts' who have 'never actually done it themselves -but know it all', the people that do it aren't all carrying machetes and AK47's.
