I've been tasked with finding a specialist legal firm who is experienced in the above type of contracts - Google suggests that virtually every law firm can do this, (or will have a crack at it), but I'm certain that some will be better than others.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations in this field?

Thanks

Personally, I have no personal experience.

But, my thought processes would be to look at the corporate pages for companies that offer franchises, such as Domino's:

Whilst they aren't solicitors, based on their long experience the firm of accountants I use for my business have one word for those considering buying a franchise.
'Don't'

We aren't planning on buying into a franchise nor operating one, but the legal work behind the scenes is not too dissimilar, and focuses on 3rd parties using our IP and branding. I think we're having an exploratory discussion with Shoosmiths next week about it though.

Coming at it from a different angle, I know and have worked with Richard Kemp who knows a lot about IP even though he is focussed on it from an IT perspective at the moment. Very approachable and currently running a small London firm, maybe worth a conversation.

It sounds like all you really need is an IP licence, in which case have you thought about going to a firm of patent & trademark attornies? They will likely be a lot cheaper than solicitors, and do every bit as good a job. The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys has a searchable list of firms. Most of the big ones have an in-house solicitor as well.

I'm a patent attorney, btw, and I've drafted many IP licences in my time.
